However, it reacts strongly with alkaline media, where it decomposes and releases heat. Agricultural producers primarily use the compound as a fungicidal spray for crops such as grapes, tea, coffee, cotton, and cardamom. Rubber growers also spray it on foliage to control leaf diseases.
    • Manufacturers use copper chloride as a colourant and pigment in ceramic and glass production. Artists and manufacturers also use it to add colour to wall paintings. Historically, various civilizations used copper-based compounds for manuscript illumination and paint colouring. Its deep green and blue colours also make it useful in pyrotechnic colour effects. Manufacturers can additionally use it to decolourise dyes such as Indigo Carmine and Amido Black.
