Dithiophosphate IBS, also known as Sodium Diisobutyl Dithiophosphate, serves as an effective flotation collector for nickel and activated zinc minerals, as well as copper ores. Mining companies also use it in gold-recovery operations because it can improve the recovery of precious metals under suitable flotation conditions.

Operators can use Dithiophosphate IBS to depress iron sulfides under alkaline conditions that require a high pH. This property makes the reagent useful in selective flotation circuits where operators need to separate iron sulfides from valuable minerals.

The reagent also supports the recovery of refractory gold associated with sulfide matrices. Compared with many other sulfide collectors, operators generally require relatively small quantities of Dithiophosphate IBS to achieve effective flotation performance.

Dithiophosphate IBS can provide strong collecting power for precious-metal recovery while maintaining good selectivity. It has relatively low frothing activity, so operators commonly use it together with a separate frothing agent when the flotation circuit requires additional froth formation and stability.

The reagent can collect sulfide minerals rapidly and strongly while providing greater selectivity than some other thiol collectors. Compared with many xanthates, Dithiophosphate IBS can provide particularly useful selectivity against iron sulfides in alkaline flotation circuits.

Dithiophosphate IBS is soluble in water, which allows operators to prepare and introduce it into flotation circuits with relative ease.
