Amino Dithiophosphate or Thiophosphoric Acid containing nitrogen comes in powder form which has a white to light yellow appearance. It has no strong distinct smell and can be dissolved in alcohol. It also has a density of 0.8 to 0.85.

Chemical application and strength

Amino-Dithiophosphate, also known as nitrogen-containing thiophosphoric acid, acts as an effective collector for various non-ferrous sulfide minerals, including lead, silver, copper, and activated zinc sulfide ores. Operators can also use it to support the activation and flotation of pyrite.

Amino-Dithiophosphate provides strong collecting power compared with many other dithiophosphate collectors. Mining companies commonly use it in the flotation of copper and lead minerals, particularly in ores containing iron sulfides and sphalerite.

The reagent can improve recovery rates during silver and gold flotation while maintaining good selectivity during mineral collection. These properties make it useful in precious-metal recovery circuits.

Mining companies also use Amino-Dithiophosphate in the flotation of antimony sulfide, nickel, and nickel sulfide ores. Although the reagent does not dissolve readily in water, it can dissolve in alcohol and alkaline solutions, allowing operators to use it in suitable flotation systems.

In certain flotation circuits, operators may use Amino-Dithiophosphate as an alternative to cyanide-based depressants for sphalerite, depending on the mineral composition and process conditions.

Storage

Store Amino-Dithiophosphate in a dry, well-ventilated environment away from water, direct sunlight, excessive heat, and open flames. Because the product is highly flammable, keep it away from ignition sources and follow the manufacturer’s recommended storage and handling procedures.
